About Me

Simon Live at the Stroud Festival |
 |
Qualifications:
I have been playing guitar and enjoying making music for 21 years
and have been involved in numerous bands and musical projects playing
both cover songs and original material in many different styles.
I have Thames Valley University qualifications - Grade 8 exams
in both Electric Guitar Performance and Popular Music Theory and
study Classical Guitar, write songs and just enjoy being around
musical people and making music. |
| I am a registered member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors (affiliated
with the London College of Music) and teach both electric and acoustic
guitar as well as popular music theory.
I understand parents concerns regarding child security. My wife
and I have two sponsor children in Thailand via the aid organisation
PLAN INTERNATIONAL. We are required to have a Criminal Records Bureau
(CRB) "Standard Disclosure" check done for visiting our
sponsor children. A copy of the CRB check is available to view showing
I do not have a criminal record.
I encourage students to take exams where appropriate but must
importantly to focus on “What you want to learn” rather
than simply following a laid down syllabus. It is important to me
that you have fun whilst learning at your own speed. As such at
your first lesson I will carry out an assessment of where you are
with your playing and discuss what you want to achieve in order
that we cam structure the lessons to suit you whether you want to
learn theory or just play music or both. |
